This Panama hat is off-white in colour. In addition, it is trimmed with a fancy grosgrain ribbon. The ribbon was made to measure in Italy. The artist Fabienne Delvigne was inspired to create this Panama hat by her holiday in Marbella. This straw panama hat reflects the cheerfulness of the holidays with its Italian ribbon woven especially for the Maison, which was looking for shimmering colours for this summer. It can be trimmed with a matching ribbon or a coloured ribbon. Indeed, we adapt to the customer’s choice, we like to make our customers’ dreams come true. The border is hand-stitched and describes the delicate and time-consuming work done by the artist and his team in the workshop located in Brussels in the heart of the European capital
The white panama hat: its history
Panama hats are hats made of vegetable fibres, of Ecuadorian origin. In addition, despite its name, it is not of Panamanian origin. But contrary to popular belief, the Panama hat is not a form of hat. It is also a material made from hand-woven young palm shoots from Ecuador. A trilby hat, a fedora hat or a floppy hat could therefore very well be considered a panama hat! It was Theodore Roosevelt who helped popularise the hat by wearing it during his visit to the Panama Canal construction site in 1906. The panama hat then became a must-have accessory to wear without moderation on sunny days.
