Some more Details about the Marbella

The Marbella is an off-white panama hat with a fancy grosgrain ribbon on its side. It was specifically made for Maison Fabienne Delvigne in Italy. The artist: Fabienne Delvigne was inspired to create this panama when visiting Marbella. This hat reflects the cheerfulness of a summer vacation thanks its Italian joyful bow. It can be made with a matching or more colorful ribbon. We adapt to our customer’s preferences. We make your dreams come true. The brim is handstiched and reflects the delicate and laborious work of an artist in her atelier in the heart of Brussels, the capital of Europe.

    The Panama Hat’s History

Panama hats are made from vegetable fibres. Despite their name, they aren’t of Panamanian but of Ecuadorian origin. Contrary to popular belief, “panama” is not a form of hat. In fact, it is a material made from a hand-woven fabric made from young palm shoots from Ecuador. Therefore, a trilby hat, a fedora hat or a floppy hat could very well be considered a panama hat!

It is Theodore Roosevelt who popularized it by wearing it during his visit to the building sites of the Panama Canal in 1906. This hat has since become a must-have accessory for sunny days.

First, we carefully wrap the hats in silk paper. They are then placed in a black Fabienne Delvigne hat box. These boxes are specially made for Maison Fabienne Delvigne.
Then, we put a certificate of authenticity next to the hat. We finish by perfuming Eau de Cashmere by Guerlain. It is a reminder of the beautiful collaboration between the two Maisons.
