The wide brim hat: its history

Born in the 19ᵉ century, the hat is a broad-brimmed hat for women.

Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac’s wide brim hat in Les Demoiselles de Rochefort give these hats their aura and glamour.

Grace Kelly also wore many straw capes in pastel shades. They were embellished with muslin scarves tied around the cap.

La Maison Fabienne Delvigne likes to propose the “Hepbrun” hat, which brings together all the classics in one hat. Indeed, it gathers the bottom of the flat cap of the boater and the wide brim of The hat. But instead of being flexible, it is stiffened with brass primers and wire.

The Belgian actress Audrey Hepbrun, who lived her youth in Brussels, was a great inspiration to the designer Fabienne Delvigne. Indeed, she admired her sober elegance…

The  hat is nowadays considered a chic fashion item. It can be worn in summer as well as in winter, and for various occasions.
