The Trilby Hat’s History

The trilby is the fedora’s younger cousin. The name of this hat comes from “Trilby”, a novel by George du Maurier. It is a small hat with a small brim, generally lowered at the front. Its cap is pinched at the front.

The trilby can be made of any material. For the summer season, it is made of different kinds of straw such as: parasisal, panama or even panabuntal. Whereas in winter, it is usually made of felt. This type of fabric has the advantage of being rain-proof and of excellent quality. Velvet and melusine felts are often favored by Maison Fabienne Delvigne.
